In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, the Thomson Reuters Institute is pleased to produce a four-part series on identity, inequality, and access to justice in contemporary American society. Our aim is to unite professionals, policymakers, academics and more for a series of earnest dialogues around the modern-day Latinx experience. Our fourth and final installment highlights access to justice concerns for the Latinx community.

Political policies of interest to minority groups have varied greatly from the Obama and Trump administrations. As threats to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program wear on, Latinxs continue to fight controversial measures looking to oust “Dreamers” from the nation. This, along with calls for a border wall along the Southern United States, threatens to eliminate immigrants from entering the country and places thousands of asylum seekers and their children in peril—a flash point for the national Latinx community. Please join us as our distinguished panel discusses the ways in which access to justice for Latinx constituents has proven challenging in the current climate, and how individuals and companies can help foster systemic change.
